KTH is the most profiled university in Sweden. The University has a strong research focus on the development of advanced systems for a variety of applications, and works closely with its industrial partners. The KTH team to this project is active in the area of manufacturing, web-based real-time monitoring, and production planning. KTH is well recognised by the automotive industry in Sweden. The research team has more than 10 years of experience in multi-national research projects. Over years, it has developed and acquired various R&D tools that are instrumental to monitoring, planning, simulation and optimisation for balancing environmental aspects such as energy efficiency in manufacturing against production costs and delivery reliability. The team has also developed state-of-the-art web-based service-oriented information management tool-kits for remote information sharing, online real-time monitoring, tracking and diagnosis of manufacturing resources. The strong manufacturing background of the team can also help the CAPP-4-SMEs project go beyond its current scope by providing directives in terms of optimal strategies and long term planning of factory reorganisation towards much improved resource-efficiency.

KTH has rich experience in co-funded RTD projects. The research team was/is involved in many EU funded projects, including one on-going GREENet (FP7) project, and has been the Principal Investigator of 12 out of 18 nationally or internationally co-funded RTD projects.
