The Coventry University (UK) is a forward-looking and modern University with a proud tradition of providing high quality learning and applied research, and an established presence regionally, nationally and internationally with over 20,000 students and 1,800 staff. The University has established 30 applied research centres and groups in its key areas of expertise, such as art and design, computing, manufacturing, automotive and aerospace engineering, construction and environment. The research team is from the Distributed Systems and Modelling research group and the Advanced Digital Manufacturing research group. The two groups are one of the most active research units in the EU in the research areas of distributed Cloud and Service Oriented architectures and applications. The strong ICT and manufacturing background of the team can also facilitate the development of the Service Oriented architecture in the CAPP-4-SMEs project to support SMEs to move from developing and maintaining resource-intensive and standalone energy related ICT systems to a flexible and cost-effective service solution accessible and configurable over the Internet for their collaborative process planning.
The research team has successfully secured the following EU Funding projects: DEHEMS, CASES, GREENet, Cap4Com, CLEM, and Cassandra. The total funding value is over 10 million Euros. The team has successfully helped at least 10 PhDs completion via providing appropriate supervision. The team has a group of collaboration peers which have been built from the existing EU projects.
